The Things I Bring on Every Shoot

As a real estate photographer, it's essential to have all the necessary tools to capture stunning images of properties. In this blog post, we'll go over the essentials that I keep in my camera bag to ensure I’m always prepared for the next shoot.

  1. Camera and lenses: Of course, the most important item in my bag is my camera and lenses; making sure I have a reliable camera body and a variety of lenses to suit different shooting scenarios. A wide-angle lens is essential for capturing the entire room, while a telephoto lens is great for capturing details and close-ups.

  2. Tripod: A sturdy tripod is a must-have for any real estate photographer. It will keep your camera steady and help you take sharp, blur-free images.

  3. Memory cards and batteries: I always carry extra memory cards and batteries in case I run out of storage or power during a shoot.

  4. Flash and lens filter: A flash can be used to add light to a room, but it can also create harsh shadows. A lens filter can help to soften the light/glare and create a more natural-looking image.

  5. A Flashlight: There have been some circumstances where I have been hired to measure a home but the utilities are not on (which is totally fine). The program I use requires proper lighting in order to function. That’s why I keep a multi- functional flashlight that also serves as a charging block to keep my devices charged and a fan incase it gets too hot outside (nobody likes a sweaty photographer lol).

  6. Shoe covers: Your seller does a lot to prepare the home for photos and I like to leave a property better, if not the same as the way I found it. Shoe covers help prevent leaving any dirt or scuffs on their freshly cleaned floors.

  7. Gimbal: A gimbal is used to stabilize walkthrough videos, giving them a professional, smooth look. This can be a great tool for creating virtual tours of properties.

By having all these essentials in my camera bag, I show up feeling fully prepared for any situation that comes up during a real estate photography shoot. Remember, the details are key and these tools help me to focus on those details.
